Thaipusam Festival in Batu Caves

Thaipusam was first celebrated in Batu Caves in 1892. Since then it has been a mainstay during every Thai month or Thai Masam. The auspicious Thai month (Thai Masam) is the 10th month in the Tamil Calendar.

Thaipusam falls on the full moon day of the Thai month which is usually between January 14 and February 15, also known as the Poosam Star (natchatiram) day.

 On this day, Lord Muruga devotees carry kavadis during Thaipusam.
